NEKK Seva Mandaara expresses gratitude for the overwhelming response to our Covid19 Fundraiser
Dear Donor,
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to you for donating to our recent covid response fundraiser. Several Mandaarites have generously contributed to the cause. Moreover, quite a few people outside of NEKK, especially from the west coast, have made substantial donations. We sincerely thank each one of you. All in all, we raised a net of $17,891 (after transactional fees) and donated all this amount to Rashtrotthana Parishat (RP), Bangalore.
As you might know, RP has done a tremendous job in setting up temporary covid isolation centers at various locations in Bangalore. At the peak of the end phase, five centers were working in full swing at full capacity. Hundreds of patients were admitted and discharged after full recovery. While the patients were at the centers, they were fully engaged in various activities like yoga, bhajan, board games etc. and all of them were very happy to have spent time like that. Each center had 2 doctors, 6 nurses and 6 ward-boys on duty. They worked in shifts of 8 hours each. There were 2 ambulances on standby to bring patients to the nearby hospitals in an emergency. Each center had about 60 beds and out of these about 20 had oxygen supply if needed.
Since the isolation centers were temporary facilities that RP created to meet the demands of the society then, now they are working toward making a permanent facility that will be able to cater to the covid emergencies including any possible hit from a potential 3rd wave. They found an abandoned and dysfunctional hospital in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and are in the process of acquiring it and converting it into a full-fledged hospital.
We are very happy that our donation came in handy in supporting the above initiatives of RP.
